Soley Residence
Richmond Hill, Queens
Architecture Studio led a comprehensive renovation of a historic residence, focusing on preserving the building’s original character while enhancing its safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal. The project began with a full evaluation of the property’s interior, exterior, and balcony spaces to develop a tailored restoration strategy. Exterior improvements included power washing, new window installations, removal of an outdated air conditioning unit with brick infill, damaged lintel replacement, storm door installation, wood door refinishing, sealing of exterior openings, brick crack repairs, installation of a new hand railing at the main entrance, rerouting of the leader head, and foundation crack remediation near the staircase. Interior upgrades focused on restoring original details and improving livability. The foyer was refreshed with molding and wall repairs, while the sunroom was revitalized by removing wallpaper, repainting heating elements, and installing a new sheetrock ceiling. The technical roof above the porch was also improved by reinforcing joists, repairing the parapet, installing a new metal railing, and concealing structural supports. This renovation balances historic preservation with modern improvements, resulting in a safer, more refined, and more comfortable home.
