This attached townhouse in Astoria needed a rear addition as well as an interior renovation. The structural challenge was to underpin the foundations of both neighbors as we built a 20-foot extension. This was no easy task since the neighbor’s foundation was crumbling. The contractor bid very low on this job, and could almost not finish it.
After all, was said and done, the project was finished, the Certificate of Occupancy was granted, and the owner sold the house for a lot more than she paid for it and moved to France.
I did get paid, and won an award, and kept up my friendship with the contractor. Life is good.
